Sunseeker CPV and dual axis tracking system being demonstrated during European showcase.

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

slovenia demo2

For the month of April, Sunseeker Energy has been displaying and demonstrating a full Sunseeker CPV dual axis tracking unit in Europe.  The primary aim of these demonstrations was to gain pre-orders that enable volume manufacture of units to commence in conjunction with its strategic manufacturing partner, Precise Advanced Manufacturing Group.  Members of our technical team have confirmed they are receiving an excellent response from those invited to attend and view the system.

Demonstrations are being held with a wide range of parties, including groups planning to develop solar farm energy solutions, retail distribution groups, and investment / finance groups.

The high level of interest being generated is an excellent endorsement to both the operational capabilities of the Sunseeker CPV system and it’s dual axis tracking system.  The system being viewed with it’s combination of cost benefits and performance capabilities is being well received, and is further confirming the economic benefits of the Sunseeker Products to potential users.

Manufacturing partner found for high volume production of the Sunseeker Energy product Family

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

Sunseeker Energy and Precise Advanced Manufacturing Group (PAMG) are pleased to announce that they will be strategic partners in producing high volumes of both complete systems and components for the Sunseeker energy family of photovoltaic generators.

After many months of close collaboration on manufacturing methodology, component rationalisation, quality and global competitiveness, SSE has chosen PAMG to co-ordinate the manufacture of tooling, custom components and assembly of engineering products. PAMG were selected due to their demonstrable high quality, competitive pricing and experience with all aspects of advanced manufacturing.

Mr. Grant Tinney, CEO of the Precise Group said:

“The Strategic Partnership will combine innovative, leading edge renewable energy design with world class manufacturing capability. Our Group is excited to be granted manufacturing rights for a product for the global market with stand out technical and commercial features”

These sentiments were echoed by Antony Howard, Technical Director of SSE who remarked that :

“We are delighted to have such a supportive, attentive and enthusiastic manufacturing partner with over thirty years of experience taking the helm of our manufacturing operations.  We are looking forward to a productive and close relationship that will ensure the SSE range of products, both tracked Concentrated Photo Voltaic ( CPV ), and tracked flat panel can be delivered to customers around the world at the best value possible, with the best processes we can use to ensure that any solar power project with which we are involved is world leading in output, price and quality.”

Sunseeker Energy is currently displaying a tracked CPV unit in Europe to potential major customers. The substantial interest generated will lead to the partnership commencing volume manufacture of units in second half 2010.

Patent Application Number PCT/AU2009/000540

Thursday, April 29th, 2010

On the 12th of April, 2010 confirmation was received by Sunseeker Energy that the preliminary international examination of our revolutionary sun tracking transducer had been completed.  Of the thousands of patents relevant to this field, the examiner has queried only one minor claim, and it’s two dependent claims as being similar to an existing patent.

Sunseeker Energy can confirm that the similarities of these claims are not based on the engineering methodologies used between the two patents. Sunseeker Energy considers that it can effectively amend the language of its claims in order to clarify the description, making our international patent application complete.

We are thrilled to get such a positive examination result, as it clears the way for us to exploit our patent for 25 years, knowing that the cost savings our systems can provide against similarly accurate tracking systems are second to none in all the jurisdictions covered by the international patent treaties.

When will the Documents from the AGM be available for viewing?

The documents will be up in due course as there is procedure that needs to occur before these documents can be made public.

The latest newsletter highlights a flat panel tracking application. Is the focus still on CPV?

Sunseeker has not moved its focus from CPV technology, instead we are expanding on our product range by developing the elements of Sunseeker’s systems that have always been applicable to flat panel products. Flat panel applications are merely an execution of a long-standing strategy that we are now in a position to pursue. This is largely due to the success of the engineering operation in developing CPV products.

As a company, we feel it is important to extract the highest potential from our products, in the case of Flat panel tracking this means mating our tracking system to a frame that holds traditional panels. We have always believed that the highly robust and efficient characteristics that our trackers exhibit place us well to compete very successfully against existing market players. As the cost of our trackers is also low compared to our competitors we can value add to any flat panel installation. This has been largely due to us value engineering the tracking system as part of the dollar/watt peak cost of the CPV systems, rather than an isolated engineering exercise.

The interest in the CPV product continues to be higher than our expectations, and this development should in no way be construed in any other way.

When will we be able to view the “Web Portal”?

The information portal will be available with limited functionality late December, unfortunately due the remote location of our testing regime, we have had a few complications with the mobile internet network and the low speeds with which it can transmit data. This is not problematic for sending raw engineering data but deciding to go real time has provided some technical challenges we did not foresee. This is being rectified and we will have full functionality as soon as we can. As you can no doubt understand, the real time web service is a mixture of engineering and marketing disciplines, with the engineers being required to keep their main focus on product improvement and evaluation.

The aim of delivering this system is to deploy it across multiple sites of interest, to help enhance our interaction with potential customers and shareholders. The first time we do something is always difficult.

What are we hoping to achieve with the Flat panel test?

Our preliminary testing indicates that we will achieve a 25-30% increase in daily output for an increase in system cost of under 10%. We hope to give people a chance to verify this for themselves in real time.

Market research – mentioned “ongoing conversations’ with government representatives, financiers and 2010 sales tactics – is this in relation to a push into the US market?

The US market development is well underway, and we regularly talk to relevant stakeholders to ensure we are best placed within any particular marketplace. 2010 sales tactics do indeed continue to involve the current push into the US marketplace, but they are by no means the only market in which we are operating.

A Supply chain in Thailand was mentioned. Is this in regard to manufacturing in these countries? Are there currently manufacturing facilities in these areas, or contracts with factories for manufacture? And if so, are there still plans to establish manufacturing in the US?

Supply chains are constantly under review to achieve the best prices possible for our customers. This will translate in future to the best value addition for shareholders. Thai supply is not due for the American market, as America will be supplied by American produced goods. We contract out non critical aspects of both component manufacture and assembly.

Lastly, back in April, “Preparations begin for Underwriters Laboratory Testing”. Just wondering at what stage we are there. Has UL commenced any testing?

This process is very involved, and every effort is being made to expedite approvals.

Can Sunseeker take advantage of the growth in PV installations being currently reported?

Please rest assured that we are placing ourselves well to take advantage of this trend with customer requirements allowing us to deliver solutions using a wide range of our technologies.

Sincerely,

The SSE team

Market Research

Thursday, December 3rd, 2009

During the month of October, the marketing team at Sunseeker Energy conducted an environmental attitudes survey to further enhance our ongoing discussions with government representatives and financiers.

This involved survey teams speaking to a wide variety of the general public. The results have been both rewarding and exciting as it has helped us gain insights into some of our key sales strategies for 2010.
